Default Blue Bell 11/16 Spike / pearl acrylic

And I took a before pic this time.

This gem came to me with some ugly rust from cell rot, mirrored on both sides. Shame, as the cracked ice scales are faves of mine.
So the quest was to replace them with something close. This Pearl acrylic looked like non - cracked ice to me so a good alternative in keeping with the original theme. Wedge is black acrylic & all the hardware was shifted to the new scales. I like this stuff & can see myself doing more plastic scales in spite of my love of fine timber.

Added some brass thrust washers & gave the blade my 'Velvet' finish. It came up quite purrty IMHO. Honed her up & enjoyed a superb test shave. This thing shaves like my Beau Brummel i.e. like a light saber.

Unfortunately It's heading back to David in Thailand in the morning along with his Rosewood scaled Grelot. Run out of excuses to detain these refugees any longer. Enjoy mate

Those are excellent shavers. I've seen them in the cracked ice version and the red translucent scales which I worked on recently and is my personal favorite,
David will be a happy camper and should know by now not to keep his razor under the sink where humidity reigns . Humidity is a killer in Thailand.
    Job well done, OZ!

I have one of these that I bought NOS on ebay a few months ago. It honed up real easy and is one of my favorite shavers. I've thought about replacing the cracked ice scales before, but never knew what would look good. You found a nice substitue and did the razor justice.

    Thanks for posting.

Fantastic work on giving that beauty the help it deserved. I also agree it's a shame the scales were gone. Good recovery!

Its good to know I'm not the only straight razor user here in The Land of Smiles. But my wife still thinks I'm crazy.
