Thanked: 124Nun2sharp's Torrey
In exchange for a mutant brush, Nun2sharp sent be a rusty mess of a Torrey to restore. I replaced the broken scales with this nicely figured oak I cut off a dead branch. I scraped off the rust but not the patina--I like old things to look old. It came out OK. As you can see, the purple heart spacer doesn't fit quite right. I have trouble eyeballing how much taper to give the spacer. I could use some suggestions. Anyway, here it is:

Johnny,
whatever the outcome or result, it really doesn't matter. What does matter is that you achieved working on something that you cherish and spend your valuable time doing so. You should feel proud.
Shaving should be fun,
Thanks for sharing!

Glen in the wiki gives the best explanation.
drill the spacer and the scales at the same time. Pin it and then sand it flush.

Nice. I like shoulderless French points.
The wiki is always great info but here's a good little video on wedge making.
Bill's Straight Razor Info: Making WedgesThe white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

That was very helpful for the cutting and sanding, but i really didnt understand what side was supposed to go where. he kept saying the thin side but he mentioned two thin sides. what thin side goes where?
