F.W.Engels "Hiz" 11/16 Original Scale Restore
I picked this one up for $15.00 at an antique shop. I almost put it back. Here is why:
It was part of a package deal I was haggling with the owner of the shop, so, I decided I'd see what I could do with it. the nice thing is there was no active rust on the edge itself. Just everywhere else.
So, I got it home, and examined it a bit.. took some 600 grit to kind of see where I was at and cleaned up the scales (a little).
I found that there was just too much gunk and active rust around the pivot pin. It had to come out. So, I de-pinned, and started hand sanding.

Very nice work, and not to over shadow your finished product but showing pics of the progression through the grits of sanding is awesome. Shows those of us that haven't restored what it really looks like at each stage. Good work and congrats.

Great job on the restore. Antique shop finds can be jewels in the rough, great find! The before pics really show what had to be over come, thanks for sharing. I can sit here all night complimenting you on every aspect of this restore but I won't, just a fantastic job in all respects!

Thanked: 102Engels Radiant
I found my Engels at an Antique Shop. It is marked "Radiant".
Does anyone know what other models there are. My Radiant is 5/8th, hollowground with tortise scales.
