Default Dovo 7/8 in Amboyna Burl

This one is for a forum member. This beautiful, huge Dovo 7/8 had sad, plain black scales on it. He wanted the traditional shape and let me do the rest. This one is Amboyna Burl with black spacer and turquoise wedge finished with Epoxy Resin/CA. The pins are stacked brass and stainless with nickel silver pins to match the gold wash on the blade. Here you go:

Beautiful work! The wood looks amazing, the finish perfect. I love the stacked washers & the spacer wedge really adds something special!

That's some really nice work especially coming from those black scales. I know exactly which one they are as I shaved with one recently.

My only true concern is the glued wedge. I really hope it doesn't come loose. I've tried it twice with kick ass epoxy and eventually they came loose after x period of time.

    Beautiful none the less.

Thanks Max. Yeah I was a little concered too, because I have never done it like that. I used T-88 epoxy and then coated the whole thing in CA. I hope it holds, if not, I'll just pin it up

yeah, very nice. I have one that I did with the glued wedge, so far no problems so far, but if needs be I'd pin it up (a good bond should be stronger than the wood though). Beautiful work

    Thumbs up Blown Away!

All I can say is WOW! If this looks half as good in person as it does in these pics, I am going to have minor heart palpitations every time I pull it out to shave. The Amboyna burl is stunning. The black backing for the amboyna is perfect with the spider vein turquoise. The spider vein from the turquoise looks like they were specifically put there to melt into the black backing.
Wow, can hardly wait to get that puppy shaving!
