Filarmonica #14 Especial Para barba Duras ~ Jade Ghost
Here's another Fil 14 and I gotta tell you this one was jinxed I think.
The initial scale material that was going to be used was Desert Ironwood which was send to me by Justin. I spend half a day working on the scales, had everything all polished and looking good when the scales just snapped like a chocolate bar. Wood was extremely weak.
I asked our encyclopedia guru of wood species and finish 'Floppyshoes' about the issue and apparently it has to do with the wood being initially over-dried or dried too fast (Kiln dried) which causes internal stresses that weaken the wood to the point where a normally strong wood would snap easily.
So another scale material had to be chosen.
Justin decided on the Jade Ghost. I had more troubles compared to the canvas micarta I recently did. The micarta had some flex. The Jade Ghost has no flex whatsoever. This time I had to use a third pin as to widen the tang side of the scales. In order to do so one needs a perfect angled tapered wedge. The usual nickel silver pins with a mix of brass and ss washers. Tapered G10 Black/Green. Flat head torx screws for the third pin.
Enjoy.

Bravo, you created another stunner there
I think I like this one in ghost jade better than the described wood scales, for two reasons:
1. You see wood everyday
2. It really works well with the overall look of the razor.
As a custom car builder I tend to lean toward things that are not done everyday and that razor definitely fills the bill. Congrats again, that is a stunner.

She's a bewdy Max. !!!
Shame about the DI snapping. So frustrating after all that work. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
