I ran across this thread during a Google search on Mercurio straight razors looking for more info on my own. I will toss in a photo of mine for anyone else who might also run across this thread:
From what I understand, the Hermes brand was among Emil Hermes's first, long before Merkur came about. On the backside of the tang there's an engraving of Mercury with the famous winged sandals.
