    Default My First Restore Attempt

After viewing all the razors in the gallery and realizing how little I know about wood and metal work, I have to say I'm pretty intimidated putting these pictures up. Well, enough excuses, got to start somewhere I guess...

I picked up this blade to learn scales but the blade was in worse condition that I thought so I got a lesson in blade and scales. It still has some battle scars on the blade but I'm OK with that.

Pictures of the original condition can be found in this thread...

Blade: Bengall 7/8 (100% hand sanded and buffed, no tools or sanding blocks used).

Scales: Padauk Wood with BloodWood teardrop inlay and Bloodwood wedge. (Nine coats of hand rubbed poly used to finish the wood)

I haven't made a light box yet but I think these pictures will do for now...

That is a extremely good job for a first try. I love that wood and it looks like you have years of experience with this.
    Fantastic job!

Great work. I know just how much hard work you would have put into that blade to get it looking so nice. Good job on the scales too. That inlay is nicely done.

Excellent work and kick ass razor to booth.

    Bengall razors rock big time.

    Good job on the peening!

Thanks for the warning but you're too late, I'm already a lost cause. I got hooked in the middle of this restore and already got 4 more in queue and a Gold Monkey coming in the mail.

Kool razor ! Never met a Bengall I didn't like
My personal preference is for tapered edges on scales but you did a great job & the inlay is superb
