    Default Early Christmas...

So, I have been on a bit of a razor binge of late and SWMBO was starting to get a bit fidgety. With 2 razors arriving yesterday, 4 in the air, and 3 restoration blades in the mail, she basically cut me off. I reluctantly agreed with one caveat... That she let me buy a blade from Max as I had been in discussions with him for weeks on a razor he was working on. After seeing some of Max's work, it was actually an easier sell to her than one might think. When the time came, he gave me a head's up on the blade I was interested in (FW Engels, blade was pretty much NOS) and scaled it like I wanted. This razor will be waiting for me in NC when I go home for Christmas and will be the blade that I use to show the brothers how to shave with (as I mentioned before I will be doing some modded blades for them). Anyway, a HUGE thanks to Max for the getting it out so quick and letting me use your, as usual, stellar pics. I hope you guys enjoy.

Interesting variation on the original scale theme - very classy! Thank you for sharing.

Yeah, Max had nothing but praise for the edge that the F.W.E. Special could take. Because of that and the condition of the blade, with most of the bluing intact on the tang. I decided on this razor as opposed to some of the others he was working on.

    Forgot to mention:
    ManufacturerL F.W. Engels
    Model: Special
    Region: Solengen
    Blade: 5/8 spike point
    Current Scales: Dark Horn
    Current Wedge: Faux Ivory
    Current Hardware: Brass on Nickel

And right you are. This blade takes a wicked sharp edge.

Glad you love your new christmas gift. And as always, pics don't do the razor any justice.

I love how close those pins are on the wedge!!!

That look is spectacular along with the third pin.

    I am very jealous.

Thats a sweet looking razor, I'll bet she shaves as good she looks.
I've never seen a wedge that short before, very nice, is it done like that for function or looks?
