Bengall in Basic Black
This one is from a customer south of the border, ie. Melboune not Mexico
Pre resto pic courteously supplied by same because of course, I didn't take any. Thanx Peter
Came in for a blade resto & was closing off centre.
Well, the scales were a little warped & I just gave them a squeeze at the pivot to see how bad & snappo ! Ended up making new ones but as much as I like the old Bakelite ones when they're cleaned up I like my acrylics better Actually feel nice in the hand too. Not slippery despite the shine.
Blade was only sanded till the etch looked at risk then finished on the buffs. Original pewter wedge & refitted with simple brass pins & washers. Also added brass thrust washers. Closes to centre now
Edge was pretty sad at the heel so reground the area & then honed up for a typical Bengall luxury shave.Last edited by onimaru55; 11-23-2009 at 12:21 AM.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

That's a stunning transformation! Must be better than new now.

Thanked: 12This makes me rethink some of the blades I have passed up in antique stores. Great work. But part of me wants to rub some dirt back into the blade etching, it just stood out so nicely before you cleaned it!
