LR Harner Semi-Custom Blank in African Blackwood
I finished the scales months ago but never got to taking pictures.
This is one of the "pre-production" blanks that Butch offered for sale. I dressed it in African blackwood with sapwood accents. There is no wedge.
I named it Ancalagon.

Thanked: 1072Very original design. What have you done with the wedge end, are the scales glued together with no wedge?

Do you have to be a bit more careful when seating the blade that it doesn't nick the scales??
Beautiful work all the way around!

You've really gone for it with those! I'm very keen to get my hands one one of his blanks myself!

Thank you gentlemen, I appreciate your comments!
Edit: I simply glued the ends together, the scales are very tightly fitting. They do not catch the blade as they are fairly well centered. I have been thinking about some kind of a staple, but I have been unable to execute on that idea so far... maybe in another six months!Last edited by sparq; 11-23-2009 at 07:02 PM.

Exactly. This is not my daily workhorse despite its good shaving qualities. I can afford making it a little more unusual and fragile.
Btw. in one of its earlier versions, there was a glued cork wedge and blade stopper there, and the cork held very strong. I had to cut it in half and sand it off the scales, it would not peel off.
