I really like the way you brought back those scales. I hadn't seen the before shots in your origional post. Well done!

While I do feel completely outclassed by the work already shown here I may as well enter one of my first two full restorations.

Blade is a Wolstenholm Pipe razor. hand sanded out the rust and pitting and discovered a nice 1/8th" inch long crack in the blade about dead center. I breadknifed it out and popped the guy into a tumbler with corn cob media and turtle wax rubbing compound for 2 days.
Scales are bookended Redwood burl with copper liners and a pearl and black swirl acrylic wedge. Sealed in CA and smoothed out to the top micromesh. I absolutely adore the pattern to this section of burl. It looks extremely three-dimensional in person. Wedge pin is a brass rod with silver solder filler. Hard to see for my colorblind eyes, but there is a bit of color separation according to my girlfriend. Hinge pin is pure brass with a wide washer.

No idea how the shave is yet actually. I just finished honing before I came into work this evening.

    Muirtach,

That is a beautiful restore! I love the copper lined scales. Did you happen to document your process at all? I'd love to make some scales like that.

This can be answered by anyone... what is CA? as in CA coated scales.
