Ok guys this is where you may enter pictures to the first restore contest. These must be from members who have never done a restore and we will be on the honor system so be honest everyone. we will have two categories. 1 razors restored to original condition. and 2 Razors that have been reworked (new scales etc.) Please post a before and an after picture of your work along with a description of the work you did on the razor. if there are any questions please let me know.

Here is my entry with pictures (you can delete my above post with only the link). Sure hope some others jump in here, I know there are some good first time restores on this site.

Blade: Bengall 7/8 (100% hand sanded and buffed, no tools or sanding blocks used).

Scales: Padauk Wood with BloodWood teardrop inlay and Bloodwood wedge with brass peened pins. (Nine coats of hand rubbed poly used to finish the wood)

Can't let Baron sit alone on this thread.

So here's my first restore.

The blade is a Wade&Butcher Celebrated for Barbers Use. 7/8" Hollow.

The scales are two piece nickle with a pierced work design. Enameled and hand engraved. Triple bass pins holding a brass wedge and brass piviot pin. All pins are from 1/16" brass.

The blade had a nasty crack in the front, and so I had to reshape the front to remove the crack, thus the funky nose. I was afraid that I would loose all the lettering on the blade if I removed all the pitting, so I left some of the pitting to save the lettering. I decided to go with a satin finish on the blade to offset the smoother finish on the scales.

I've put in some pics of the different steps that I used in the process of making the scales. I figured that it would be easier to show some of the steps rather than try to discribe them. If ya'll would prefer just before and after shots then I'll take the others down.
