Didn't have a chance to shave with it. Took it to the hones and strop and got it to pass the HHT. Was getting ready to test it when the management company came by. Got stuck watching them all morning cut out part of the wall because of some leaking.

Headed to the office mid-day and figured I would go ahead and take it in for my friend. Just gave it to him about 2hours ago. He said he was going to go home and put it to the test. Will be his first straight razor shave, so I told him to stop by the forum and get to reading the tutorials first.

He doesn't have much facial hair. Just mustache and chin, but I don't want him cutting his lip off. Hopefully he will be happy with it, but he is just using a Mach 3 now, no soap, cream, or even water. I gotta imagine this will be a step up regardless.

I would imagine using water would be a step up. A difference in razor, shaving dry, will matter little to nothing. Sounds like this guy should have been given an electric, not a straight!

Yeah, I sent him to the wiki tutorial, he knows he is going to have to work on his prep method. Living in China I have a lot of Asian friends, and they don't get quite the beard coverage most of us Westerners get. A lot of them are used to just using an electric or dry shaving the little bit of whiskers they have. They think I am crazy when I talk about straight shaving. Anyway, he loved the gift and has been playing with it non-stop. Hopefully this will get him interested in giving himself a proper shave.
