    Default German hollow ground

Here is one I finished recently. The blade was in bad shape so it took a fair bit of work to make it shine again. The scales are ebony finished with Danish oil then a bees wax based polish. The wedge is bone and the pins and washers are brass.

Oh and I can see why most of the restorations on here a photographed before honing, it's dangerous work doing it after!

That one came out really nice... Classic lines and looks like very tight craftsmanship...

Yeah I take photos right after they come in from the shop, and before they go upstairs to be honed.. One it's safer, and two I managed to ding a freshly honed edge once doing pics, and that was it for me...

Very nice indeed. It is always cool to see before and after pix though. The contrast is so much more apparent. Great job though.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Superb job. What were the old scales like? I once had one very similar, with yellowish scales that said 'Imp' in a silver inlay within a red circle.

All I can tell you is it is called striped ebony. I have a fairly large piece of it and some parts are more "striped" than others. Ebony is often died to give a pure black.

    Thanks for the kind comments.

Thanks I will have to look around for it as I like that look quite a bit over the solid black ebony I have currently.

That does look good. The scales look just right for it.

Thanks. When I got it it had already beed re scaled with something I can best describe as tartan effect plastic (nice). I really should have taken some before shots.
