Default George Wostenholm Celebrated IXL Chopper in Buckeye Burl

This is a George Wostenholm 8/8 spanish point chopper. The blade was not to bad off but did have a fair amount of rust and pit. I gave it sanding and hit it with the buffing compounds to polish it up. There is still some light pitting and texturing in the blade but any more sanding/buffing would take the etch off the blade. There is not rust left and a reasonable shine on the blade.

The owner wanted some buckeye burl scales. The scales are finished in epoxy resin for very tough and durable high gloss finish. Pins are 1/16 brass rod with brass over stainless washers and brass thrust bearings. The wedge is a pearl acrylic that I did not buff. I thought the matte color contrasted the scales nicely. Took a few hours to cut the little chips out of the edge and get a proper hone on it. Nice saving razor.

Great looking razor, but.I LOVE THOSE SCALES! I have a brush in that wood and it would look amazing next to those scales. Great work.

Love those scales. I'm not usually partial to wood scales, but those may very well be the prettiest scales I've seen to date. Very nice. Congratulations.

    Regards,

    Mark
