Default first restore, completed for your input

this is my first restore, it is a 7/8 wostenholmes ixl, unfortunately the stamp on the tang didnt survive the sanding, but all in all, it turned out nice to my untrained eye. the scales are black walnut, and the wedge is made from a simple construction shim. i used wood oil, the same oil used on wooden bowls on it, so i hope that it holds up.

I would have slimmed the scales a bit more, but thats hard to gauge from a picture. How do they balance

What wood oils did you use? I have some OLD dry wood scales (posably 200 year old wood) and trying to figure out what to put on them...

As mentioned I would slim the scales, but as long as they dont impeed on the balance and you like the looks I think its a great effort for a first attempt. Better than mine.
