I know I said katana but is it a wakizashi ? The mekugi seems a long way down or is it double pinned. Leather ito ?

Is anyone as confused as I am by this last post?

Oh, I do really like your razor stand, Legion. Please post a picture of the stand with the razor that belongs to it when the razor is done.

No, it is a katana. Two mekugi, leather tsuka-ito over same ray skin.

This one is just a Hanwei sword. Quite well made for the price, though. I don't keep anything more expensive out on display. Got burgled once and learned my lesson.

Might only be a hanwei, but the only one mistake in the Ito showing still looks fantastic compared to my build musashi...with a cotton ito...Good edge, nice temper, but cotton doesn't feel right.

If you want to feel a nice ito have a look at the Hanwei Tori katana with the brown suede ito over black same. Sweet. It is a very pretty sword.

    Nice indeed.
Currently I am in the process of remaking all my fittings.
Right now I have 3 feet of hand braided sageo ready, with obviously a few feet to go, after this it's my own ito, then handle, same etc...
I am far too busy the next four months to make much progress though.

Either way, nice to know there are a few, I was going to say iadio'ists, but I shall simply say katana fans, in case the kendoists get stroppy...
    lol

Need a big safe or a big dog ... or both
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Or caltrops and other sorts of 'stop and think about what your doing' devices.
