Oh boy !!!
OK here is the truth, basically you have to build the scales either WAY off of factory spec, or you built for beauty and looks, instead of functionality to miss the whole tang... It really isn't all that hard to get them to balance, it might look like it is, but it isn't...
Basically the fancier the scales, and the farther out people go with materials, the harder it gets to balance them... Then the excuses start
And also Baldy I have several basic designs, if you actually compare my scales you will see the basic shape in there for each size razor, I might change the wedge end design slightly, and tweak a pivot shape here and there, but the basic design is from the factory set I take off the razor, or from a few that I know will fit and balance...

Exactly! I was thinking this thread was starting to put too much emphasis on the importance of it (I know how you were poking fun and all Glen), and I'm glad the question was asked by Baldy.
Whether or not you buy into the whole "tang balance" as a form of checking how well the razor will handle, the fact is as long as things are proportionate and not too heavy, the razor will almost always balance at the tang. Even thin carbon fiber (light) scales manage to pass this test. In the end, it is harder to get the scales to feel bad rather than good. Chances are you PROBABLY don't ever have to worry about it.

It's here! I picked it up from the post office today on my way to meet some friends. When I met my friends I unwrapped it right there in the parking lot, borrowed a hair from my buddy's girlfriend's head and showed them how a hanging hair test is done. They were very impressed, as was I. It sure looks spectacular. I can't wait until tomorrow to take it for a test drive. Film at eleven.

I just finished my first shave with this monster. Wow! I only did a one pass shave. Why? So I could do it again sooner! Undoubtedly the best single pass shave ever. Partly, I'm assuming, from the quality of the razor and partly from Glen's awesome honing job. Sooooo close for a one pass you would think I spent a lot more time on my face. This baby jumps to the front of my rotation instantly. Glen, I can't thank you enough!
