Default First Attempt at Scales, lots of pics.

    Gentlemen,

Here are some pics of two razors. One is a Boker King Cutter, and the other a W&B Special. They are my first attempts at my own scales. I used domestic oak for both, different stains. The boker scales have had a couple coats of Tung oil hand rubbed, and the spacers for both are cow bone. I used microfasteners for the pins.

The W&B blade was pretty straight forward, but the Boker needed some work. I lost a bit of the etching on the blade, but I'm ok with that. That is another learning experience altogether.

I had a lot of fun playing around, and this would definately not have been possible without the workshop forum and Brads videos. I must have watched them ten times! Thank you.

Enjoy the pics (sorry about the quality, I have a regular camera).

Nice job on the restores. Both turned out very nice. I'd never guess it was a first effort!

Looks Great! Toronto, eh? Make it down for the next Michigan meet... Dunno when and where that will happen!

Maybe we could do a "very northern" US meet, or a "very southern" Ontario/Canada meet? That would be very cool.

Is there a company that deals with horn in canada, or ships to canada? I'd like to give that a go for a set of scales.

It looks like you've been doing re-scales for a while. Good job man.

Congrats on the oustanding job. I really like the extended heel of the W&B.
