    Antique market find. The blade came out better than what I can capture in the pics. I think someone else had a go at this one prior to me. It had a very faint etching on the blade, but a series of deep scratch marks covering it. I wasn't able to save the etching, and it wasn't actually worth trying to save. 220-2000 and a couple rounds of Maas. The scales took a nice shine with Maas too.

    Nice. I hate wiping out an etching, but will do it if necessary. Now I try not to buy an etched blade if it looks like the etching will not survive the restoration.
