Royal in Cascara (Buckthorn)
I started messing around with a piece of wood a good friend of mine gave me to try. It didn't look like much when raw. I was practicing making a shape on the scales, tapering from the wedge end back to the pin end. When I got it done and put a swipe of tung oil on it, man was I surprised. This is beautiful. So I looked in my box of eBay scores and found a razor that said "Royal" on it. Bingo. The wedge is Cocobolo, pins and washers are brass. I used wide brass washers because the wood is just a little soft. I am not happy with the finish on the blade. Next time I won't sand at night by the light of the worklight. I'll go back and redo it when I get a chance.

You got that really nice. Those scales look beautiful.
I have lot of (too many) sea buckthorns growing around my house. I never thought of making any woodworks of them, but now i really have to give them a try.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'
