8/8 scaleless custom from OCD
OK, so I had to try this too. It is 8/8 full hollow w/ mirror finish. Somehow by not making scales, I used enough walnut burl to make 20 sets!!!
Gonna have to go back to the drawing board on this one. In the meantime, I got this nifty little shaver that takes up half the shave den.
As always, thanks for looking

I love it, Bob. Gorgeous work on the razor, but I love that burl stand. It may need to head up north for a visit

Great shape to that blade. I like the ease on the points since my Iwasaki has no forgiveness for my lack of skill. The stand suits it just fine.

I really like the balancing utilized all over this set. The modern American industrial razor combined with neo-asian base, the asymmetry of the base front to back, the way that the razor holds in the base, the basal shapes building the handle to the organics of the blade itself.
Ok, enough artsy stuff. This set is great, anyone would be proud to be allowed to look at this art let alone be allowed to shave with it. Thank you, truly, for advancing our hobby.

Thanked: 1072Bob, it may take up a bit of room, but man, both the razor and stand are gorgeous.

Thanked: 240Looks great I was thinking there was no way that beast would balance properly then I scrolled down and was proven wrong. I especially love the stand though it is an awful lot of Burl, I like the organic look if the stand though I think maybe it is better suited to a more organic looking scaleless razor? Obviously there is something to be said for the contrast but I just wanna see another you make another scaleless

Wowww Bob...another work of art . I really like the utility of the stand and the way the blade just blends with it. Way to go.
...and please don't take this as criticism : If the stand was smaller, it would accentuate the blade better. Right now, it seems the blade is a small part of a bigger unit. Again...not a criticism, but a personal taste. Thoughts? Am I off base?

Well I'm going to do something I never thought I would do. I am going to tell you what a pieceof crap one of my razors is.
Had my first shave with it today. 2 thumbs down. The handle is too short for a good grip and it is slightly rounded, thus the razor wants to roll in the hand. Not good.
Also this makes it very hard to strop and keep the edge on the leather. The shave was very close but a little rough feeling due to poor stropping on cr-ox and then leather. I never realized how important the scales are to handling, grip and balance.
The short of the long of it is...back to the drawing board
