    Default Wilson with Bocote

My first attemt and though there is much room for improvement I am very happy and it shaved well this morning. I am sure learning a lot. One of my next things should be how to take a good picture!

The scales are Bocote with a sterling silver wedge. I was origionally going to use a different blade but while sanding it ended up a little to short. The blade was pretty rough and after sanding and sanding I decided that if I cleaned it up completely I wouldn't have much left.

That is a handsome looking razor. Bocote and silver that is a classy combination.

I love the process of learning. If I get good at something then it tends to get boring.

Thats a great attempt. Keep it around, and then take a look at it after a couple more restores, and you'll really see how your new skills have improved.

    Great job.

    Sweet looking razor.

I like the knot. I had opted out on leaving the knot in my first restore, and after it was too late realized that I should have kept it. Wood that shows character of imperfections is a nice look.

The knots where part of another learning experience. They are actually two different knots from different places in the board. I started with a piece of wood about 3/16" x 1.5" x 3'. I got two knots that matched pretty well and cut them out. The issue came when trying to align the blade when it closed. since the pieces are from different areas the grain is different and the stiffness of the scales are different. I ended up thinning one scale slightly to weaken it to match the other. Not much but it worked. The blade closes straight down the middle!

    Thanks

I plan to keep it around. One of my goals is to have a seven day rotation of my own restores. This one could be named Sunday.

Something to be proud off. I love Bocote. I'm always happy to see someone use it. Perfect combo and job well done for a first! Thanks for sharing.
