Geneva Cutlery in stainless
Staying with my idea of experimenting with various materials and having fun with aluminium I decided to try stainless steel. I've had the metal in my garage for over 15 years from when I worked in a candy factory. I drive my wife nuts when I collect things that I "may" use some day.
I read and figured that they would be heavy and here are the unscientific results.
Geneva and stainless 77.0 grams
stainless scales 23.2 grams (They were exactly the same!)
simiular celluloid scales 6.8 grams
Wilson and bocote 45.2 grams
aluminium and Edaco 38.2 grams
stock Henkels 38.2 grams
The balance is definitaly changed in the direction of the scales. I did nick myself using them but will have to experiment more to see if I can blame the scales.
I don't usually shave on fishing trips but I might toss these in my tackle box. If the fishing is slow I could add a treble hook to them and see if they could catch anything.

I dig using materials that are ignored in every day life.
Great repurpose. Keep it out of the lake. Congrats on the job.

NICE!!
You can take the balance back more to the blade, but doing a few cut outs and removing some of the interior materials, if you wish.
I really like the look of the stainless, but then again, I'm baised towards the shiney side of life.....

Thats a good point.
I wrecked 3 drill bits and a couple of blades cutting it out as it is. I had a medium priced set of drill bits that couldn't handle the stainless. I have never been good at sharpening bits and 1/16th inch are pretty small. I drilled slow etc.
I thought about drilling many small holes but would rather have it look like a fishing lure than a cheese grater.
For now it works but I am keeping an open mind on adaptations for the future.
