    Default Scales for a Member

I made these scales tonight for a member who has a real nice Wosty.
White Poly Pearl from Masecraft, with drop of blood red for the wedge. I included my signature curve for the tang, and added another near the toe at the top for the Barbers notch.
Pretty happy with it. Still having a bear of a time getting the holes to line up square.

I have a Dremel with the drill press. My problem is I drill my holes after I have shaped the scales, and thus it causes difficulties.
I do this because it allows me the freedom to make adjustments to the shape without misaligning the holes.
Perhaps now that I have more experience I no longer need that freedom and I'll start drilling beofre I start shaping....

Very nice job that really glows. Neat notching.

To have straight holes, the dremmel press is one item to keep square. You also need to secure the scales square before drilling. I used to put modeling clay on a board, press the scales into the clay and measure the height of seams to make sure it's square. Then I spent $15 at harbor freight for a cheapy press vice. Still needs meausreing though

Nice work. I drill my holes after shaping the scales as well..at least, after the initial shaping. I do the initial shaping with the scales taped together, drill the holes, untape them and then do the hand sanding.

I will give full credit where credit is due...I learned it from watching Brads (Undream) videos.

+1 on Catrentshaving. +1 on Brads videos. Initial shaping, drill while taped together, hand sand. Good times.

How did I miss this? The color of the scales is awesome. The design is perfect for a blade that doesn't have jimps. Handles like a sports car.
