Do me a favor and hang on to this one. Knowing that you only have 2 razors in your rotation at the moment just feels wrong, It makes the RAD part of my brain go into melt-down.

Mate , will ya need therapy if I tell you it walked on Sunday ? hehehe. Don't panic there's still a few jobs on the bench I'm tempted to keep the DD Dwarf.

Thanx. As it was not a customer's job, I didn't think to time it. I did it in bursts over a week but there were a few challenges like an asymmetric tang & using unfamiliar abrasives that stretched the time out more than usual.

for me it looked better before mirrorpolishing. great craftmansship, but i dislike a mirror finish on such old blades.

I agree there are cases for keeping the patina but it's easy enough to recreate if the customer so desires. Ironically, the better the polish the better the patina.

You can use vinegar baths or other dilute acids but I would practice a lot on scrap steel first as pitting is a very real risk.
A safer way is to use cold gun blueing cream or liquid which can be toned to a grey colour with metal polish.
This is the colour you can achieve with cold blueing.
