    Wow, I wish the scales on my Friodur looked half as nice as those. It's nice to make them look as good as they shave.

    Any non stabilised burl is going to be fragile and absorbent. When I use the resin on burls they normally take two applications. The first will get sucked into the wood and you will end up with uneven spots on the finish. The second levels everything out and gives you a nice thick epoxy resin coating which will stiffen the burl and make it much more durable which is why I can get away with not using a liner to reinforce the burl wood.
