Todd's Baby
Todd dropped his "Baby", an old Wm. Gilchrist made somewhere between 1851 and 1861 in NJ or in Philadelphia. Blamed it on his wife! (That's another story)! These are unobtainum and something had to be done! Todd failed to mention the backside ivory was badly cracked! I found one of "Foster's" old back scales in my pile(whoever Foster was), and matched them up. Thanks to a photoshop fix by none other than onimaru55 on the razors forum (Thanks), I reshaped his blade and set a new bevel, pinned it up with Babur's reinforced fancy collars, stainless spacers, and some silver rod after much sanding and polishing of the ivory. I have not honed it yet, but plan on shaving with it this weekend before sadly sending it back to Todd. It's a NICE one! Thanks for looking!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Now, that is one fine rescue of a vintage razor in pain.
Good job. Not too much, just enough to bring it back to its former glory. NiceBjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

That came out beautiful. I almost cried in sympathy when I saw the thread in the razors forum and I can't believe how nice it turned out. The washers are a lovely touch.
Great job, great save. Congratulations to both of you. And Todd... shave alone from now on. Watch your back!

Great job ! Looks like it was made that way. Awesome that you had a matching scale.
Looks like a lot of good came out of this 'accident'.

The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

sharptonn's touchdown for todd
This is a dramatic example of nearby happenings (let's call them "The Happenings", like a movie!) affecting a shave. Perhaps if it isn't in the beginner-oriented FAQs something could be mentioned of rambunctious pets, children, angry wives and such being courteously shut out of the traditional wet-shaving male's world before engaging in open razor activity. Also cautions against shaving while suffering from allergies or illness that involves sneezing.
That razor looks pretty darn classy. Plenty of modern designs that celebrate the smile.
Can you feel the love?
