Hidden razor and brush holder
Here are some pictures of something I have been working on, I still have a ways to go to finish but I thought I woulds share.
I have a wooden book with a 4x7 chamber inside that I have made in insert for with a computer controlled mill. Each inlay is almost a perfect fit "I will still sand it a bit to get smoother".
The insert is made with oak, and I am considering flocking the inlays to match the color of the inside of the box "will also make a softer surface for the razor to lay on". I am also going to stain the oak a small hint of cherry color and then poly or epoxy it.
Here are some picture:
Let me know what you think
Thanks

Very nice! Since it appears from your magnet inset that you have some Forstner bits handy, I would suggest drilling a 1-inch semi-circular cutout at the mid-point of the blade profile to use as a finger pull for lifting the razor out. Really nice job!

Wow that nice. I think it would be great to hold that special razor and brush. Great stuff

Thanks, I love the lift up cut out idea!
and yes this would be great for the one of a kind razors.
At the moment I am displaying my special razors, aka my one and only Dovo "My Special Razor" and my one NOT so special brush
But it gets the job done : )

Looks great & I don't mean to sound critical but I 'd be really hesitant about putting a potentially damp brush in with my razor.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

That is "off the chain"! You could have customers send you profiles of what they want in a case and you could scan it in! Custom! Anything! Need a poor business partner? Sweet! Tom
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Damp
Thanks a lot.
You are correct, I never put my brush in there unless its fully dry "24hr's dry". My whole intention for this is as a display, so I would ultimately not be putting a razor or a brush I use often in here. at the moment I only have 1 display worthy razor and 1 sad little brush : ( so I am just testing the waters with the mill and the design.
