Default Old Soviet DE in shiny brass.

I recently found this DE razor that belonged to my dad. It was made probably somewhere in the 50's - 60's and had some type of nickel plating that rusted away. Some of it just disappeared during use and so I thought, I'd sand the rest off and let the brass underneath take over the show. It's a nice little shaver that I really love. Here we go, put your shades on for this one:

I have to polish it a bit every now and then to keep the brass shiny. Not a big deal. Maybe I'll put some clear laquer on it in the future.

Nice. You could try Renaissance Wax. It is great stuff and might be just the ticket. Alternatively you could have it replated.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

It's always nice to own a razor that your Dad or Grandfather used, and passed along to you. Nice looking DE, keep it safe!

I agree with Jimmy, you should really consider having it re-plated back to its former glory. You don't want this baby to pick up any more oxidation in the future.

That is so nice! The Russian items from those days were high quality! Sadly, us Americans did the same back then! I look forward to the day when we can make things like this which are good for generations again! I am glad you have it and can use it. It is very nice!

Renaissance wax is impossible to get around here. I'll get it off ebay sometime and give it a try. I heard people use it to seal scales too. It's not too annoying to just rub it with a polish every week or so. I just have to watch out not to leave water on it, it will stain really fast.

No, managed to preserve my grandfathers strop in sound condition. But the razor was lost many years back.
