You can restore blades using both methods, hand sanding or power tools, or a combination of both. These ones are hand sanded. It takes a while, but it's also nice to have a project on the go.

As for tools, maybe the big guys can chime in too, but I'm pretty sure they use a grinder that's been refit with muslin wheels (or something similar), and then cotton wheels for the final buffing compounds.

Amazing Job! Beautiful hand work and the scales are super fine! The wedge is very cool!

That is one of the greatest razors I have seen so far. The scales and particularly the wedge add to the character that the razor already possesses. I myself am on the look out for a boker. A stainless, or perhaps the king cutter will do?

Those scales are really nice. The colour and grain really makes for a classy looking razor.

Also, is the base of the wedge flush with the scales or does it stick out from underneath slightly? Looks great either way but I'm just interested.

    Very harmonious and rich razor.
I think if we would have been against a smoking cigar and a glass of a five-star Armenian brandy, it would have been a great picture on the desktop for uplifting working capacity and mood.
Very high quality work. I have something to aspire to.
    Thank you.
    Good luck ....

PS The bones are cleaned well ants. Next year I want also procure some bones.

Nate... those big smokes look tasty! I was bugging my wife the other night about wanting to have a cigar and glass of scotch after my morning shave. She rolled her eyes and said I'd stink and thought it was a terrible idea. When I mentioned that I "wanted to try a pipe in lieu of the cigar" she asked when my 90th birthday was coming up.....
LOVE the boker brother, classy as usual.
