Thank you, Gents. Humble beginning and good education. Now to try to transfer a Puma insignia from broken plastic to ebony.

Don't sell yourself short. I think that you did a wonderful job here.
I have always found that a finish is a science, but finishing is an art. As art it varies from time to time, day to day. We all get bad finishes once in a while, but I don't consider this to be the case here you did wonderful and choosing CA is great because it is easily fixed if there is a mistake.

A stellar job.
If I may ask, what kind of wood is it? Pine? It has a bit of curliness which is rather nice. Anything notable about the blade?
How did you manage to turn the blade into a capacitor? Impressive.

Hi Ecirmo,
The wood is Box Elder, which is so close to the maple around here I'd never be able to tell the difference - has the wavy lines like maple. I just liked the color veins running through it.
The Blade was one I'd not heard of before. I was attracted to the size/form, the heavy spine, thick shank - which is easier for my XL sized hands to comfortably grip/control. It DOES take edges readily, and the shaves are what I'd hoped for.
'Not understanding the capacitor question.
This was a rare time that a blade that DOES have my preferences turns out to be a keeper. At least 1/2 my blades bare few or none of my favored traits. I wind up keeping them 'cause the edge-taking and shaving attributes put big smiles on my face. I love 6/8, tolerate 5/8, hate 4/8. Yet there's this little Shumate Tungsteel that shaves so fine I can't part with it. So I do use one little 4/8. 'Same think happened this morn. w/ an obscure blade I honed last night. D. Peres (soligen). Wicked looking spanish point, 5/8, w/ covered shank. The edge it took just made me whimper it was so nice, and the shave was exceptional. Sigh. Another blade I don't get to use much 'cause I'm testing blades for others. It is a pleasure to get to try all the lovely blades.
