Black in Macassar w/ Sapwood
Instead of studying for a national exam in chemistry I finished off this one.
Please excuse the pictures as this post is entirely mobile.
Black ~22mm badger set in a recent haul of ebony with sapwood. I wish that I was able to catch the nuances in color and chatoyance for this wood. It is really one that I won't enjoy seeing leave here.
Now I will figure out what to do with the rest of this ebony...

This, like many of my brushes, is finished in a custom mixed epoxy resin. I do not mix it myself, but a well respected epoxy manufacturer makes it for me in small batches. I have found other well qualified epoxies for much less money, but I do not have many out there near as old as this product and therefore do not personally know the expectancy of the product. (They are in testing phase now)
If you ever want to chat epoxy finishes just PM, I would always be glad to oblige.

Great looking brushes, would love one of those. Currently using a $15 dollar brush from the supermarket.

Thank you gentlemen. The handle isn't as slender as I would like, but I felt it worked well in this case.
This is the first time that I stuck with ebony for a brush. I usually try to convince the end user to go with burmese blackwood instead, but the character of this most recent batch was just too much to pass up. Just cut some scales from it last night.

Beautiful, I have always wanted to try a black badger brush and I really would like to get a closer look at it myself. Glen already has to many brushes!

Actually, this one was spoken for and essentially designed by its future owner.
I keep staring at this brush across the room half wishing it didn't have to leave.
