Max Voos "FLIC" in Turkish Walnut
Well, Glen and I must have been channeling the same muse when Travis sent us our blocks of Turkish Walnut and asked for "Classy Scales." I finished this one yesterday and spent most of last night fighting with my light box...
Scales are a simple design, flat panels to let the wood really speak for itself. Used my special Tung Oil blend to rub these until they shine like a French lacquer. Brass pins, and a brass-lined faux tortoiseshell wedge...

Wow, beautiful! That is some very nice looking wood, and the whole thing looks very classy. I do have a question also: In the second picture, the wedge looks to be turned 90degrees from what I am used to i.e. the thick part of the wedge is pointing up instead of in. Could you explain to me why you decided to make it this way? Thanks for sharing!
