    Default Joseph Allen in Zebrawood

Here are pictures of a project my eight-year-old daughter and I finished up this weekend. Truth be told, my daughter did most of the work. She roughed out the shape on the belt sander, helped hand sand the scales to final form, helped create the ebony wedge, and applied and buffed the multiple coats of Tru-oil. She even helped put the pins in place. I think she did a marvelous job. I am so proud.

    Thanks for reading. Enjoy.

Lovely work, an artisan in the making there!

Wood looks lovely, seems to suit the razor somehow.

Nice touch with the zebra prop too

If your daughter wants to start a college fund she might wanna start advertising in the classifieds here. Those scales look great I'm sure she could find plenty of business.

Excellent scales. Smooth curves, and beautiful use of the grain. Great stuff!

Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen. My daughter is tickled by all the feedback. She really has a fun time helping Daddy. My six year old son, on the other hand, would much rather go biking or skateboarding or some other activity with Dad, but my daughter actually asks to “do razors” in the garage. Sometimes that’s the first thing she asks in the morning – “Hey, Daddy, do you have any razor projects to work on today?” When I say yes, my son just rolls his eyes. I’m hoping his enthusiasm changes when he’s old enough to start shaving. :-)

Thanks. I don't know if the notch is original or not, but it came to me with the notch already there. Thanks again for the feedback.
