Poppy's "Smiling Hair Popper"
I really enjoy this hobby and, as some of you know, really dig old smiling blades. So as James(poppy926) shared his big pile on Show and Tell and is relatively new to this disease, I thought I would offer him a pro bono fix for his newly-aquired Antlered Geneva Smiler. As he sent it, it became apparent that this was one of those "experimental" blades which they plated (see 3rd pic). Thankfully, a short-lived experiment! Some light 600 cleaned it off and his wife chose from a pile of scales I had around. The ones she picked were candystriped celluloid and had much abuse on the backside pivot. After much sanding and polishing, they came around nicely! Pinned with nickel silver and teeny collars to match the bottom pin as best possible using stainless spacers. Not perfect, but perfectly nice! Now.....to the hones! Man!..... Where did I leave that rocking stroke? ....get it on...Tom

I couldn't be happier with the looks of it either. Beautiful job Tom. My only regret is seeing it now, I am sooooo excited to shave with it. And checking my email at work was a bad idea. The pic with the peppermint is now my background screen on 3 monitors...LOL. My co-workers think its cool and me nuts. Did I mention I am excited. Kudos to the wife for picking those scales they look awesome. I only hope I can do as good a job someday.
Thanks James

Funny, before I read any text I said to myself, 'Genco' . The candy scales were a standard fitting on Gencos at one time. Ok, so it's a Geneva but close enough Good choice, nice restore & collaboration.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Great save, I hope it shaves as smooth as it looks.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

Nice job, sharptonn.
Very cool looking razor. I think it should best be used with a nice cooling menthol soap or creme. Hope you enjoy it lots, poppy926.
