    Default Poppy's "Smiling Hair Popper"

I really enjoy this hobby and, as some of you know, really dig old smiling blades. So as James(poppy926) shared his big pile on Show and Tell and is relatively new to this disease, I thought I would offer him a pro bono fix for his newly-aquired Antlered Geneva Smiler. As he sent it, it became apparent that this was one of those "experimental" blades which they plated (see 3rd pic). Thankfully, a short-lived experiment! Some light 600 cleaned it off and his wife chose from a pile of scales I had around. The ones she picked were candystriped celluloid and had much abuse on the backside pivot. After much sanding and polishing, they came around nicely! Pinned with nickel silver and teeny collars to match the bottom pin as best possible using stainless spacers. Not perfect, but perfectly nice! Now.....to the hones! Man!..... Where did I leave that rocking stroke? ....get it on...Tom
