Thanked: 993A Present for Dad.
My dad has had this razor for probably 40 years. It was given to him by a barber from his small Northern Ontario town. It has sat in his drawers through high school, university, and his career. Two weeks ago, I phoned my Mom before the two of them came down for a visit, and asked her to sneak it out of his dresser drawer, but to leave the case, lest he figure out what's up.
I took my dad down to my shop, and that was when my Mom passed it over to SWMBO, who hid it in the house. I was terrified to work on it. It's a Dovo Fritz Bracht. I kept everything original except for the new NiAg pins. I polished out the blemishes on the scales and buffed the inlay. I also ran the blade on 600 to remove all the rust, and let me tell you....this thing was covered. It was red. Sanded the blade by hand, and then gave it a quick once over on the 600 again. Polished it up as best I could.
It's now honed, for the first time I believe, and will be wrapped and put under the Christmas tree for Dad this year. I hope he wasn't emotionally attached to all the rust!

Nice to spend the time on your father's razor. Maybe he'll give it to you...

That's just a fantastic thing to do for your dad Nate!
I think as we age the we appreciate the sentimental things more ... I'm certain he's going to love it!
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!
On a completely unrelated topic ... did anyone notice the ace in the room ?
