My first custom made razor, Japanese style! :)
I have already posted a few pics before HT, here is the finished product:
She is 7/8 in size, traditional assymetrical grind, with nice black handle wrap. My belt grinder isn't ready yet, so this is all finished up by hand, and a 5" bench grinder. Yes, I used it after HT too, it wasn't too funny to put it in cold water after each stroke on the wheel, but eventually I ground it thin enough. It was a lot of fun, and the first shave with it was the best of my life. Not because of the edge, I was so excited to try it that I was hasty and it wasn't perfect, but because this is the very first blade I made! That feeling was just awesome
Please give some feedback how you like it, every good or bad comment is welcome!
Here are bigger pics of it:

55mm, or a bit more than 2", I have a big face The next one will be a bit shorter, and a bit more traditional too.
Actually the back bevel is a bit off, it is thicker in the middle, but the front side is much better. I was careless, and noticed the problem only when I honed it, next time I will be smarter.Last edited by jeness; 12-18-2011 at 12:00 AM.

This is slow tough work on a bench grinder. My hat is off to ya.
Good job!

That is a great looking razor, clean crisp, nice lines. I wish my first razor had looked that nice. I am impressed.

Looks real professional. More importantly how does it shave?

You can be proud of your work. Great lines and a consistent edge.

Thanked: 993That's just awesome. It feels like you did quite a bit of research before your attempt, as your design and lines seem to indicate that your learning is beyond your first physical attempt. Congratulations!
