    Default The Clothes' new Emperor

Great customs and restores here, Gents!

I am a sucker for Henckels. So many grinds and variety, all quality! An Emperor has eluded me! Nice ones are pricy. I bought one with nice scales and a honed down blade. I waited for a few years until I was asked to remove this blade from some sterling silver and install a Sheffield. The spoils went to me! Man, was that blade honed down. This #81 is 6/8! Some pitting was still there after I did all I was comfortable with. I did not want to change the personality of the grind, so It is not perfect, but nice. The scales were polished and scrubbed and needed something to make them "pop". I used some gold Rub n buff in the low spaces. I like the result.
I also managed to pin it collarless as original without breaking the scales!
    Thanks for looking! ......Tom

Nice job. The new blade has a bit more 'heft' to it & the gold gives it a touch of class
Good job on the pinning. Bakelite is notoriously brittle when aged.

The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

I don't think I've yet managed to get a razor out of old bakelite without breaking it, but I've got occasion to try again soon...

Getting them out, I have down pat, But pinning is another thing. I got my peens (particularly on the front) too damn big. Pin was a bit too long and I was working the edge, very lightly. It grew too much! I am living with it. It is tight and not broken!

Excellent job on a beautiful razor

+1 on fixing the pinning, I have a box full of only one side of old bakelite scales, they always brake....
