Thanked: 21marshes&shephard in curly maple
A restore I just completed with custom scales (it's too bad I can't keep it!)
It is a very nice Marshes & Shephard stub tail half-wedge in curly maple with an ivory wedge. The maple is a sight to see - it looks 3D in person!

That maple does look great. Do you mind sharing how you finished it to get that level of chatoyance?

Chatoyance? What?
Looks great btw!It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Thanked: 21Well the wood was stabilized to begin with, and I just sanded it to 320 grit, 8 coats of CA, with the final sanding at 400 grit. Then buffed with white jewelers roush.
