Hand sanding wedges is a pain, it's my least favorite part of making scales. One suggestion though, you could make the pivot side of the scales thinner. The large square shape will make stropping difficult. Not to mention shaving with it will probably feel clumsy.

Thanked: 1i didnt think of the stropping good idea thou. i test fit the shape with some card and it felt beefy but stable so i thought id give it a shot do something different.

Thanked: 194that is amazing work on your part. I am very envious of all you guys who do restores. I feel like I could never get those results. I am going to attempt my 2 restore soon. this one will be a full restore. I only hope it comes out as good as the ones i see by everyone on here

Thanked: 1That was my first one ever and its nowhere near being good i did it with no power tools the wedge i had a hard time with and the blade still has fine scatches on it i plan on getting a belt sander but i need to come up with 100 bucks lol. It was a good start but i know i can do much better

Thanked: 1well i scrapped the scales and started over touched up the blade a bit more just waiting on some more wood.
