So this one was jealous of my new Hart's scales
This is my second set of "scales". The first ones weren't worthy of posting. These aren't an exact copy of my Hart Steel's scales, but they're close. Finished in wax.

I haven't tried the one piece scales yet. I was actually thinking about it today. Now you've really got me thinking!

You could do it in a snap. I just made a cut with a circular saw for the blade and cut the sides with a band saw. I opened up the center cut a little with the band saw, trimmed things up a little, and sanded.

Look a little thick but if you're happy that's the main thing. Also, don't you need to have a v at the end or bend the scales to make it fit better. I don't know the terminology that I'm looking for off the top of my head, but to make it similar to what a wedge does as opposed to a spacer? I'm a complete noob on the razor making, so forgive me if I'm misunderstanding that.

I think you're generally right, Cove, but I don't know that my Hart Steel has any bow to its scales. That's what I was trying to copy. But it's definately a little chunky. Just one more lesson for next time

You could still thin those down from the outside. Just hand sand them down to 1/8" or less.
