Grant ! A belated congrats on this new baby. May it shave as good as it looks.

Thanked: 1936Top notch my friend, I hope she shaves as well as she looks & I look forward to hearing about the first shave.
Many don't realize how much work goes into making a razor, what it's like to make your own, and as you will soon know...what it's like to shave with your OWN razor. I hope you make many more, but they won't mean as much as this one.
Again, dang fine job my friend!Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and God Bless, Scott

Grant, this razor really caught my attention. Just fantastic work ! Your design is very appealing. One of the things that I appreciate most, is the remaining remnant of the original file stamp and the manner that you left it positioned on the tang. Great stuff ! Best Regards Ken

Thanked: 1072Update
Well, I finally had my first shave with this razor tonight.
The reason it took so long is, when I started honing it, it was just too hard.
I ended up needing to un-pin the blade and put it back in the oven to take some of that hardness out.
I put it back together, and tried it again. Still on the hard side but much better.
I set the bevel on a King 1K, then BBW, Coti, Thuri.
The shave was as good as I'd hoped, and better than I expected.
It was a truly amazing feeling to shave with this baby.
Not the best in the collection, but that would be unrealistic. a Damn fine shave.
Thanks again everyone

Thanked: 235Apart from a beautiful looking razor I love the juztaposition of a razor made from a bastard file called The Bastard with the remnant of Nichlson left on the tang.
You should truely be proud of what you have made.

I wonder if that hardness will help later? Once you get it dialed in you might only need to hone every couple years... You might be on to something.
