Yes, I made the base as well. It's an off shoot of my regular work, woodcarving. Here is another 'stand' I made for my DE's and carved a matching brush, bowl and scales for a razor as well.
My avatar is a carving of a Greenman I did too.

No Adam, I didn't . I did it just like it's done on custom knives and other razors I've seen.

Hi Guys, sorry for the delay but Sandy had me out of commission for a bit.
The piece is deceptive looking. It's 6 1/2 inches overall with an edge length of 2 1/2 inches .
