Thanked: 13245Crown & Sword - Two Day Set
This one for me was a bit difficult, I am really good at free handing and eyeballing when making custom scales but ask me to work within the lines and I get nervous
Mark sent me two Model 1939 Crown & Sword that happened to have non-original scales stuck on them, they were so "off" the razors couldn't even close right
So we finally decided on Bone Linen Micarta for the Material, I took that and worked out the sizing required to fit into the Box, working with only one measuring device (a Mark-1 Eyeball) I made two new sets of scales, then fashioned the wedges out of Black Buffalo horn.. After final sanding and fitting I brought out the calipers, all measurements including the wedges, were within 1/1000th which made me smile from ear to ear... BTW the scales measure out at just under 1/8 inch at 1.10" in thickness, blades were only high grit polished on the buffers and by hand...
I used all Brass Pinning and Washers in and out
Honing is Chosera 1k, Henckels (naniwa ss) 1-3-8, Zulu stone to finish..
I cleaned up and reconditioned the old box using some really good leather cream, I originally bought for my Cowboy Boots good stuff on this
Thanks for lookingLast edited by gssixgun; 11-06-2012 at 06:35 PM.
