Okay, so I can't possibly be in the class of restorers around here, but occasionally I do a polish-up or rescale and tonight was one of those. I took the scales of my Wade & Butchers FBU that I had put on the John Creswick some time ago and glued the broken part, hand sanded the excess glue away in progression and put them in Neatsfoot oil for a good two days. Tonight I rescaled my George Brittain razor in those. For the Creswick I got a pair of horn scales from Olivia. The GB is looking better in these scales I think. It even closes centred, which was quite the achievement for me. The Creswick however is off-centre by a mile. Closer inspection of the "work" I did, reveals that when drilling the holes I was centered on one side but off-centre on the front scale. This causes the off-centre closing of the blade and this means I'll wind up re-doing this some-day in the future, but for now, I'm pleased and a bit proud and have two Sheffields looking better than they did before...
