Love the way it looks Grant. It still has plenty of character while cleaning up nicely.

Thanked: 1072I do it pretty much exactly like Charlie does it in this video, only I use 0000 Steel wool (Charlie uses Scotchbrite) to rub down the blade after removing.

I really like that finish, especially on this kind of razor with age, gives character! Enjoy!

Nice work as I have noticed you constantly doing. So this vinegar treatment will darken the razor and in wiping leaves the makers marks and any other depressions that aren't reached with the steel wool or scotchbrite ? That I may have to experiment with. I am working on an old razor and loved the look of the spine before I started cleaning it up and after making a few clean spots on it had to do the rest. I would ad one warning to anybody doing this . Do not inhale that steam from the vinegar. My ex got a wiff when making pickled eggs once and I thought she was going to die. She described it as burning the heck out of her lungs and got short winded to the point of worry.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

I love the way it looks!
The gray patina looks very antique. I would shave with that.

Great job! The result was vintage razor.
Thanks for the information about the vinegar. I'll have to try too.
Good luck.
