J. Rodgers resto
A very interesting blade that I enjoyed doing.
It was a basic break it down, sand, polish and keep it original. I thought the scales were just black until I restored them and discovered some brown, black and translucent mottling.

Nice one mycarver very attractive razor. Is it a personal razor or for a customer? It is a giant frameback I really like the contrast of the brass or bronze frame piece against the blade. As I see horn scales restored here it never ceases to amaze me what is actually under the crud after they are cleaned and polished.
Aloha,
ED

This piece was for a client. Interestingly, he was showing his wife some razors online and she said " I have one like those in the basement". Turns out it was her grandfathers and she kept it in some family stuff! He never knew about it.

You just can’t beat having an heirloom in the family!!! I have my Great Grandfathers W&B Near Full Wedge that Glen did a fantastic job of saving! Some battle scars, but I couldn’t part with it for love or money!! I love to shave with it just to think about what my grandfather thought when he used it!
I’m also blessed with having in my possession several different razors that were given to my people who knew their history of their families blades but didn’t want to pass them along to family as they feared they’d just get tossed or neglected!! Two of them are in the boxes they came in and one box identifies it as being purchased in a now defunct business in the town I live in! It was presented to my by a gentleman who is in his late 80’s and it was his grandfathers! The other with the coffin case was an old friend’s grandfathers.
I do hope the customer treasures it as much as I do mine, especially my great grandfathers!

Thanks,
For some reason it looks a bit cloudy around the makers mark. In person it looks polished. I couldn't take it any further regardless as the mark was an important feature to keep and it was a bit shallow from the start. But photos seem to do this at times.
Discretion is the better part of valor I guess.
