Default Where to buy screws for scales in Europe

    Hi,

can anyone give me a hint which store (online) in Europe holds screws that might be used as alternatives to pins when rescaling? I am talking about Micro Fasteners or McMaster-Carr european counterparts ..

I'm looking for a 2 mm diameter screws, inox, with allen or torx nuts

another possibility what i see might be a screw that instead of a normal nut uses a tupe, axial kind of nut 8so this could imitate a pin, not sure if they make these sizes (a srew would probably be 1 or less mm in diameter in order to fit into a "tube-nut"?)
I'm looking for 2 mm screws, inox (or brass), allen or torx

any suggestions which types of screws work best or recommended are more than welcome

    br

There have been lots of enquiries around screws and washer availability in the UK (I don';t know much about the rest of Europe) but the best option seems to be Microfasteners and just wait that bit longer. The prices are reasonable and what you are buying does not cost that much to ship so you are better off looking through their huge selection, in my opinion. In fact, you've reminded me to place another order.

    hey,

thanx for the info, shipping to EU is about 10$... i looked through the page but can't seem to find matching "nuts" for the other side (so that it looks symmetrical when scales are mounted), are these nuts by any chance provided together with these screws?

@JonasH: thanks for the link, I'm going to use sth like that due to the possibility of adjusting the length of a screw afterwards (aka dremel cutting, fileing)... ideally I would use a torx screw with the matching nutt, but haven't found them yet plus am not really sure what is the length difference that can be compensated with screwing the nut...

the screw pair with washers at Theinvisibleedge is 6,5 euro (plus shipping) which in my oppinion is fairly pricey, considering the prices in a screw-shops for similar articles

Hey gssixgun, thanx for the link, these are exactly (one of) the ones i was looking for. Unfortunatey these exist for screw diameters of (i think) 3 diameters and up (in the store I went to today). Buuuut luckly I found some sort of alternative (and have Been extatic about it since I was a bit stuck with failing to make a decent non-bent brass pin) I tried so hard to find a brass wire that I forgot I could get/use the screws which I like more, I actually got the washers few days ago in the same store )

The screws I got are stainelss steel, 2mm diameter, 2cm long, with allen nut at one end, unfortunately any kind of closed nuts exist in at least 3 mm or more, so I bought just normal hex nuts, I'd say about a millimeter thick, I intend to use them on both sides and cut them off and polish after the scales and blade are assembled. Scales that i made are a bit thicker than usual, so the handles with spacer etc are around 1 cm thick

Why not just use some regular brass or stainless rod with washers and peen it over in the way that was done originally? Hex head screws may seem to be the answer but they don't look as good do they?

ps. If you want the part numbers, then pm me and I'll give you the Microfastener references for everything you need.
